The 10th Imagine Science Film Festival
Submit Your Film
The theme of the the 10th Imagine Science Film Festival is "HYBRID"
Transgenics. Cybernetics. Interdisciplinary cross-pollination. The Imagine Science Film Festival was created in the hybridization of art and science and mixing subjects, genres, and even fact and fiction, is still at the core of all of our interests. And so, with our tenth anniversary festival this October we return to our omnivorous origins while seeking new recombinatory forms of the future. We're looking for your chimeric docufictional laboratory science fictions, your combinatorial data reenactment ballets, your interspecies cellular diaries, your greatest and most surprising HYBRIDS.

Though this subject is the special focus of this year's festival, we'll also be accepting films of any and all other genres, methodologies, and subjects, as always.
When will the festival take place?
The 10th Imagine Science Film Festival will take place in October 13 – 20, 2017.
Where will the festival take place?
Each year, the festival travels to venues throughout New York City. Last year's venues included The Cooper Union, New Lab, American Museum of Natural History, New York Hall of Science, Anthology Film Archives, Rockefeller University, Spectacle Theater, Made in NY Media Center, BRIC Arts, and many more.
What kinds of films should I submit?
Startle us, surprise us, amaze us! We always love films that defy categorization, particularly in this year of hybrids: show us fictional documentaries, scientific fact expressed through gripping stories, eye-grabbing data visualizations, thought-provoking experimental film, and innovative animation! And of course, we'll always welcome documentaries with a strong narrative thread, and science fiction with a sound scientific basis. It's really very open-ended.

We accept submissions in three categories: Shorts, Documentaries, and Features. Shorts and Documentaries may be up to 40 minutes in length, features are considered to be any film, fiction or documentary, over 40 minutes in length.
What are the submission deadlines and fees?
+ Earlybird deadline April 15 — $15
+ Regular deadline June 15 — $20
+ Late deadline August 1 — $25
Are the films in competition?
Yes. All of our documentary and short films are eligible for several awards, and over $5,000 in prizes. Awards include the Scientific Merit Award, the Scientist Award, the Visual Science Award, and the People's Choice Award.
What submission formats do you accept?
We now accept (and even prefer!) online submissions. When submitting your film, please send us your screeners through private Vimeo or Youtube links directly to programming@imaginesciencefilms.org.

You can also submit through the online film submissions in Withoutabox.
