Announcing for the inaugural Science New Wave Lab summer residency!
Two hybrids will join our team and be involved in programming + experimentation across the worlds of science and cinema.

Starting in 2024, we will select two summer residents that will join our Science New Wave Lab in Brooklyn, New York. While crossbreeding across disciplines/activities will naturally occur in symbiotic fashion, one summer intern will be more focused on science/film producing + programming while the other will be focused on tech for the platform Labocine

Deadline: May 15, 2024 (submissions closed)

- Your physical presence in New York City is necessary for the summer residencies.

- Our residents will be invited to experiment/create from our brand new Science New Wave Lab in Brooklyn. You will not need to be in the space every day but at least a few times a week.

- We ask that you be available full-time for at least two months from the period of May-August 24

- We will select only two residents who will work closely with our SNW team.

- Please mention your application for which of the two resident positions you are applying for.

- Be open also to be involved in various other genetic traits of our organizations. If not selected, there is also an opportunity to volunteer for our annual Science New Wave Festival in the Fall (October 2024) + many other opportunities via the Science New Wave ecosystem.

- There are two rounds to the residency application process. First submit the application material and if shortlisted, we will set up an virtual interview.

- We provide a summer stipend for our SNW Lab residents. We will provide more info on details in the interview process

I. SNW Producer Summer 2024 Resident

In this role, you'll not only curate science cinema magic but also play a pivotal role in organizing activities, managing our film submissions for our annual festival and plan periodic programming in our dynamic space.

** Interest/Experience: Film programming/curation, producing, film festivals, event-planning

II. SNW Tech Summer 2024 Resident

Whether you're passionate about front-end, back-end, or UI/UX, your expertise will be instrumental in creating features/tools to cultive our ecosystem of films, scientific videos and hybrid organisms on the Labocine platform

** Interest/Experience: Proficiency in programming languages, Web development frameworks, User Integration/Experience, Streaming

  2. Create a Habitat profile on Labocine (include bio, social media channels if any + optionally a Science New Wave Manifesto video)
  3. Submit a cover letter telling us a bit about you and why you would like to be part of the Science New Wave Summer Residency
  4. Link to work and/or portfolio.
  5. Optional: Resume/

The Summer Internships initiative is possible through the support of Labocine, a platform, a magazine, a portal, an archive, a network et al. Labocine is home of the Science New Wave where scientific pursuit is free to co-exist and blend freely across disciplines and cultures.
